Ness City Public Library hosted Skippyjon Jones and his friend, Heather Augustine, on afternoon of Tuesday, June 30th at the Ness City United Methodist Church. Forty-three children and 19 adults attended.
Heather, who resides in Hugoton, read three of the numerous books in the Skippyjon Jones series written by Judy Schachner. Heather did a wonderful job giving each character a voice of its’ own. She kept the audience chuckling as Skippyjon, the young Siamese kitten, escaped into his closet and became the super-hero El Skippito the wonder Chihuahua.
After reading “Skippyjon Jones”, “Skippyjon Jones in the Dog House” and “Skippyjon Jones and the Big Bones,” Heather announced she had brought a guest with her – sure enough it was Skippyjon himself! Skippyjon greeted the kids with hugs and high-fives and we snapped a group picture with Skippyjon before he and Heather had to get on the road to another library.
We thank Heather and Skippyjon for coming to Ness City to help make our summer reading program a very exciting and creative one.
